The GOP is developing its 2011 legislative agenda and should either resurrect the LEAVE Act, or draft an equivalent bill. The LEAVE Act prohibits assisting illegal aliens to enter or stay in the U.S., tightens identification requirements, deals with ITIN and Social Security number fraud, makes E-verify permanent, prohibits illegal immigrants from acquiring driver’s licenses, eliminates birthright citizenship, and strengthens border security. Congressman Miller also proposes that we deal with sanctuary cities by cutting off federal enforcement funds. The act contains a host of additional provisions that directly address the problem of illegal immigration without throwing in the towel and granting mass amnesty.
If the Durham City Council’s adoption of Matricula cards (last night breaking news) is any indication, a preemptive strike is imminent on the Winston Salem City Council. Full language of the leave act is here.
